Copyright Piracy has got to stop

Something has awful has happen to one of our fellow designers, Ellen of "With My Needle", rather than explain I will let you read her post here.   I feel as stitchers we need to keep a look out to stop this, if we hear of groups sharing or copying charts; or if we hear of sites like Ellen mentions in her post.  So if you do find this happening we need to contact the designer and make her aware of the infringement.

There is a blog you can also follow that has some information, you can see it here

Back to Happy Christmas....

I went back to Happy Christmas, last week after a day with a sick migraine.
It doesn't seem like much for 5 days work does it? I think I'm going to stick with this for awhile.. My whole March has been topsy turvy, since Woodlawn has been postponed to May 12th - June 10th.  But with the delay I might actually get Max's LD Birth Sampler entered. If your interested in entering yourself or want more information the forms and the information are to the left under Woodlawn 2012.

I haven't done anymore on the genealogy front, but I have still been cleaning out and organizing some stuff.  Pictures are another big issue that a genealogist faces, and we have tons that are NOT LABELED.  I don't know what people are thinking, I guess they think everyone will be around to explain who a person is (?).  Or they do write info on the back but its written in a native tongue, which in my husband's family is Norwegian.  Thank goodness for a distant cousin who I have gotten to know real well for help with translation as well knowing who some of the people are in the pictures.

I hope some of you might of gotten to see Finding Your Roots, with Henry Louis Gates?  I really enjoy his programs, even though he doesn't physically do all the research, he does give one some idea what papers and documents are out there for people to fnd and how to find them.  Ancestry's Who do You Think You Are, doesn't really do that.  They show people typing in searches, getting an answer (however unless you pay extra for those overseas records you won't get them in you initial searches).  They also have people pointing them in the right directions and have done all the work, but we don't get to see how they got there.  Well I know (an I'm sure others) who have done this for any length of time, but it would be great if they went into a little more detail.  Perhaps this is just me.

So with those thoughts I leave you with....

Time Marches on... and on....

I have been sooo busy, and as I always say where does the time go??? I have been into some other things, that I promised myself the beginning of the year that I would get organized or clean out... For one, the genealogy work on four (4) families, another words, my family (both parents surnames) and my husbands (both parents surnames).  I have been collecting this info, and have had some of it left to me by my mother and inlaws.  I am determine to get this organized and verified for my son and grandchildres.  So I have requested some certificates on my grandparents and sent the request for my Dad's Navy records.

Now the other thing I have been working on is my DVD collection, this includes those I have recorded which has grown to more than 250 and those we have purchased.  I told you I had a love for classic film, especially those that are precode or from the 30's to WWII.  I found this great movie database program that was free, the thing is you have to put them in manually.  There are programs that you can purchase and download but they pull in too much info from the Internet Movie Database.  I have two boxes entered, labeled and organized in alphabetical order.  I see a run to Staples in my future..

So as far as stitching, I haven't done much but I have done some...

During all this organizing the weather has been glorious here in Virginia, and all up the east coast.. Temps in the high 70's.  But last week we had winter's last gasp, it lasted for all of the morning. (this is my back yard, we live in the woods) In 5 or so years, if my husband and son have there way, I won't see this anymore since we will be near the beach in St Augustine, Florida... Will see...

An boy the moon last week, was really something......

Now the DH (the photographer in the family) said "Oh, did you have the flash on? well yes I still haven't figured out how to turn it off.  But it isn't it something....Medically, I have been fine, and we went to see the Ortho that does the Knee Replacements.. This guy makes it sound like a piece of cake, except you have to do exercises 5 times a day.  He felt that with my size and weight I would do fine.  He also said that I could enter my house, just go up the stairs like I do now (I drag that the leg and do all my climbing up and down with the left leg).  But I did get a warm and fuzzy feeling with this guy.  My last surgery experience, that almost killed me, was to have my detached retina fixed.. that doctor also said it would be a piece of cake.. so I'm thinking it over.  I may just do all this after my husband retires, as long as I can manage the pain with the shots... that's anther.. Will see....

I will leave you know with Annie, she looks so pretty, next to the Tansu Chest..
